Dr. Peter Ternus

Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM)Dr. Peter Ternus received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree with honors from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1994. He then completed a three year residency program which consisted of a year of medicine rotations and biomechanics training, followed by a two year podiatric surgical program. He is board certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) for the state of California.

Dr. Ternus is on staff at San Leandro Hospital, Eden Medical Center and San Leandro Surgery Center. He works closely with internists and general practitioners as well as other specialists in infectious disease, vascular surgery, neurology, rheumatology and nephrology. This allows for complete care of the patient, including those with complicated medical problems.

Dr. Ternus is board certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Foot and Ankle surgeons as well as a member of the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, California Podiatric Medical Association, and Alameda Contra Costa Podiatric Medical Association.

When he is not working, Dr. Ternus's favorite activity is spending time with his wife and two daughters. He also has a passion for automobile racing. He began driving with autocross and then track days driving his corvette. This progressed to racing in the competitive Spec Miata class with the Sports Car Club of America. He is now an instructor for several groups including NASA (National Auto Sport Association).

Dr. Ciaran Jacka

Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM)Dr. Ciaran Jacka has more than 18 years of experience treating patients with foot and ankle problems in the east bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. He completed his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine in 2002 from the California College of Podiatric Medicine where he graduated with honors. He completed a three year surgical residency at Portland Legacy Hospitals in Oregon where he received training in orthopedic surgery to address foot and ankle trauma, deformity correction and limb salvage. He is board certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a diplomate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Dr. Jacka is Chief of the Podiatry Section of the Surgery Department at Alta Bates in Berkeley, and takes Emergency Department call both there at Alta Bates and at Summit Hospital in Oakland; he’s also on staff at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley and can do surgical cases at both the San Leandro Surgery Center and the Alta Bates Surgery Center. Dr. Jacka specializes in diabetic foot care, wound care and limb salvage; he is also proficient in general podiatry, foot and ankle trauma, deformity correction, and sports medicine.

In his spare time, Dr. Jacka enjoys raising his two teenage boys both now in college and he stays fit playing soccer and mountain biking. He loves all things outdoors and regularly goes camping and back packing as well as skiing if/when there’s snow in the mountains.
